Purpleheart is an exotic timber from Central and South America. Purpleheart has an incredible natural purple colouring. When cut, the timber turns from a light brown to a rich aubergine purple colour and when exposed to ultraviolet light, it darkens the wood to a brownish purple colour. Purpleheart timber is extremely durable with a grain that is usually straight but can occasionally be wavy or irregular.
